YouTube vs. Facebook – WMV Upload Audio Quality

Today, I recorded a two-minute video response to the Politico Arena question of the day. The question was about the losses Democrats can expect to suffer in the 2010 midterm elections. You can see my response on the Politico Arena site here.

The primary reason I’m posting the video here is to demonstrate the audio quality difference between the YouTube posting and the Facebook version, though the exact same file was posted in both places. I have a Dell XPS M1330 laptop and used the built-in webcam and Dell Webcam Center software to record the video. I recorded the video in Windows Media format (.wmv) in the higher quality setting. When posting to YouTube, an audio delay develops. Not so in the Facebook format. Anyone have an explanation for this? Is the AVI format (the only other choice in the Dell Webcam Center software) better for YouTube? Those files tend to be quite large, which is why I chose .wmv as a default. See for yourself:
